Kindergarteners and first/second graders should be working on basic skills like proper use of the mouse, posture and hand position for the keyboard, typing your name and simple words, and locating and opening/closing/minimizing tabs. Learning and story-telling games are great activities for this age. Third through fifth graders will focus on keyboard skills, learning games, and introductory programming activities.

Computer science in early years is taught in broad concepts, as shown at left.  Through activities throughout the year, students learn about patterns, problem-solving, how to represent ideas, and sequencing thoughts and steps.
