Specifically created for students entering 5th or 6th grade and any student who would like to create a life-long math journal of definitions and formulas. (Students entering 4th-8th welcome to attend)
What will we do?
OVERALL
· Increase confidence in mathematical skills.
WEEK ONE
· Learn how to decipher the English language and turn it into Math Code.
· Learn a variety of methods to show steps in math.
· Work towards understanding why this is important.
· Take a math challenge for fun.
WEEK TWO
· Create a durable journal of terminology and geometric formulas to be carried throughout fifth grade and middle school (and beyond).
· Practice learned skills on the ActivBoard
· Learn how following patterns in math are like solving a mystery. (algorithms)
Cost: $12.00 to cover the cost of supplies: moleskin journal, graph paper, pencils and erasers.
Bring: A positive attitude and a snack. Both mechanical and wooden pencils will be available based on student preference.
Registration: Complete the attached and submit to the office no later than June 17th.

Dates: Tuesday-Thursday, July 16-18 and July 23-25; 9:00-11:00 AM (there is an option for an evening class from 5:00-7:00 PM, interest permitting.)
Note: It is important that students come ready to focus on the topics discussed. If a student is disrupting the learning process and has previously been asked to stop, they will be sent to the office for the remainder of that day’s camp until their parents are able to pick them up.
