Name Recognition/Tracing: WE are still working on FIRST NAME recognition please practice this at home and introduce your child to thier last name. We emphasis on recognizing the letters in first name. We will be working on letter recogntion for all the letters in thier name in small groups. Please work on Name recognition at home. Name tracing and writing is a morning check in routine. The key is to get them famiiar and comfortable and more exposure to all the letters in thier name. We practice using 3 pt holding of thier writing tool. Please continue to let your child color and draw, or play playdough at home to continue strengthing those little developing hand muscles.
Cutting: Any type of cutting you can let your kiddos experience at home is great! This is such an important skill. We work on it daily in class, it is kept very fun and is usually a daily center. We will have more exposure to curves this month. They are all doing SO WELL with cutting and fine motor work! We added beginning shape cutting skills and will continue to add crafts with shape cutting exposure, and to use all different types of materials, so they can really work on proper holding and positioning of hand and fingers! Please practice proper holding and cutting at home. Here is our reminder poem.

Journals: We work on our numbers, shapes, and name letter recognition this month! Much of their work and "assessment" info is kept in their journal. Continue to work on Drawing self portraits.
Self-Portraits: we will be working on drawing different size circles and lines and proper placement on thier self portrait.
COUNTING: We do a lot of counting work in our journals, the kiddos love to incorporate counting in thier natural environment also. (Picking flowers or weeds), then counting them while working on One to One correspondance. (EACH NUMBER is COUNTED for EACH OBJECT)
DoJo: Please make sure you are on the DoJo app. We love to share photos of your kiddos learning and exploring.
SELF CARE SKILLS: (WE ARE WORKING ON JACKETS THIS MONTH) THEY SHOULD ALL BE ABLE TO PERFORM THIS SKILL INDEPENENTLY WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS, please let them try at home also)
please ensure your child is continuing to be self suffucient in the restroom. This includes proper handwashing (water, soap, scrub, rinse, dry). This also includes being able to pull clothing up and down (make sure bottoms are not too tight or loose). Please also work on putting on socks and shoes independantly, as we remove these at least twice a day for sand dumping!
