Welcome to Ms. Parker's First Grade!

1. Your child's folder (distributed by me) should be sent to school each day and emptied each night.  Please make sure that only homework and necessary notes or monies are in it.  This folder is a VERY important part of teaching your child organization!  Please help them remember it EVERY day!
2. Please send any money to school in an envelope marked with your child’s name and the purpose of the money – then put the envelope in the folder.
3. Please be sure to label all removable clothing (jackets, sweaters, shoes, etc.).
4. Please remember that rolling backpacks are NOT allowed in first grade.  Your child will, however, need a backpack for P.E. shoes, reading books, and folders.

Your child will have homework every night (never on Friday). The homework may not be typical homework but I believe reading every night and studying spelling words every night is a first graders homework.
The spelling lesson is incorporated in the Reading Lessons. The words and sentences are available in several ways. You can find the list for the whole year on my webpage or you can find the lists, one week at a time, on their daily work that will be sent home in folders.

I am asking that you check the webpage and ClassDOJO announcements and stories weekly! All important information will be posted there. This is a great way to go paperless.
